Katadyn was founded in 1928 when a Swiss Chemist, Alexander Kraeg, developed a method to purify water using silver ions via electrolysis. He launched his first portable water purifying in the 1930’s which gained widespread popularity with soldiers and adventurers needing reliable drinking water in the outdoors.
