During my five-month exploration of New Zealand, I had the privilege of immersing myself in the captivating landscapes and rich cultural heritage of the country. One of the most memorable places I visited was the town of Taumarunui, nestled along the serene Whanganui River. As I wandered beside the flowing waters, I witnessed a beautiful embodiment of Maori culture. Families gathered, children joyfully swam, and teens skillfully practiced their manu's, a traditional diving technique. It was a powerful moment, seeing this age-old past-time thrive and continue to bring communities together. The scene was a stunning testament to the timeless connection between people and place, reminding me of the enduring beauty of cultural traditions.
Photo of enormous Mt. Sefton and a little, cosy alpine hut taken on one very hot and very sunny day in Aoraki National Park.
Found the perfect little gem of a swim spot while hiking in the West Coast of Tāmaki Makaurau.
