1. NOT TO COMPARE BUT…
Let’s get this out of the way first shall we. The Rain Dancer is a 3-layer GORE-TEX jacket with 50,000mm water resistance and 25,000g/㎡/24hrs breathability. Name another jacket with such specs for the value… we’ll wait.
2. CLEVER DESIGN
Cut from a single piece of fabric, Montbell's kimono cut drastically reduces the amount of seam lines eliminating areas where water can penetrate, promoting the jacket to be waterproof and lightweight as well as seamless on the back - perfect for carrying a bag all day.
3. NO WET NECK
A four way adjusting hood with a firm peak - allowing you to cinch it in around your face to keep water off your neck, so it doesn’t dribble down and soak your t-shirt.
4. NO VELCRO
Those jackets with the velcro flaps at the front are a nightmare for fluff. The Raindancer actually features a waterproof zipper, eliminating the need for fluffy velcro flaps, reducing weight and making it easier to zip up and down.
Constructed with 50-denier ripstop nylon - the perfect balance of weight to durability. Robust enough for New Zealand bush.
Generously sized that don’t sag awkwardly when you load them up. The perfect height for putting your hands in without doing the awkward wrist twist and high enough to be useful whilst using a hip belt.
7. GOOD FIT
A nice boxy fit that you can size up to get layers underneath without it being too long. Looks good in the bush and great in the city.
8. ELASTICATED CUFFS
Elasticated and adjustable cuffs to seal out the unwanted elements properly and avoid soggy sleeves.
9. DISCONTINUE THE DRAFTS
Cinch the waist waist cord from inside the pockets without having to take your hands out into the wet and cold.
Montbell has saved weight in all the right places without sacrificing durability. Size medium weighs 335g - that is around the same as a carton of 6 large eggs.
11. WHEN THE SUN COMES OUT
Pack it away! It comes with its own little draw bag for safe keeping.
