The Montbell Peak Shell Jacket is a 3-layer Gore-tex shell for travelling light without having to baby your jacket. At 198g it's only a touch heavier than the featherweight Versalite, but where the Versalite is built for counting every last gram, the Peak Shell's 15-denier ripstop face and 3-layer construction stand up better to a pack strap and the odd scrape, so it earns its small weight penalty on rougher days. Big pit zips dump heat on the climb, Montbell's K-Mono cut keeps the seams and grams down, and it still packs to about the size of your fist. The one to reach for when you're moving fast but your gear's going to cop a bit along the way.

- The hood moves with your head and keeps your side vision clear, and rolls away with a small tab so it isn't flapping about once the weather clears
- Montbell's K-Mono cut builds the jacket from as few panels as possible, which means fewer seams to leak and less weight to carry
- A weather resistant Aqua-Tect zip does away with the bulk of a storm flap, with a reflective strip so you're seen after dark
- Alpine cuffs and a hem you can cinch in one pull seal out wind and driving rain
- Fully seam sealed and finished with a DWR so it beads and sheds from the first wear
- One zippered chest pocket

- 3-layer Gore-tex with a slightly tougher 15-denier Ballistic Airlight® ripstop face (water repellent finish), so it takes a bit more wear than the lightest shells without weighing you down
