Introducing the Puff Smock, an ultralight puffer jacket that will keep you warm no matter the wet conditions that Aotearoa has a habit of throwing at us.

The inspiration for the Puff Smock is a problem that the industry has been trying to solve for some time. How do we take advantage of the clear benefits of synthetic insulation whilst not feeling like the weight penalty is too much to move away from down? Approaching problems with a fresh approach is what Yamatomichi does best. Seeing how far they can push the newest technology and materials, paired with ingenious and unique design to provide what they believe is the best solution. 

For us a puffer jacket is for keeping you warm either at the start and end of the day, or on longer breaks in between hiking. When you are on the move, we think you should reach for your active insulation instead, think of your fuzzy breathable Alpha Direct or Active Evolve. Yamatomichi think the same, so with that in mind they have been able to create an incredibly warm and light synthetic puffer jacket that is designed to do one thing, keep you warm when you aren’t hiking. This focused approach has allowed them to save weight and retain heat through clever design and material choices.  

The jacket features the most recent innovations in synthetic insulation in PrimaLoft® RISE, Pertex® Quantum fabric with a unique titanium coating (I kid you not), and incorporates a neck baffle that looks like what you’d find in a sleeping bag. All of these features and design considerations have resulted in what we think is the perfect, ultralight synthetic puffer that offers a serious alternative to 1000-fill down jackets.
